Established law firm seeking legal assistant. Candidates need to have keen attention to detail, ability to be a team player as well as work independently, excellent organizational, communication and technology skills. This position provides high-level secretarial and administrative support to multiple attorneys.
Legal Assistant Job Responsibilities:
Enhances attorney effectiveness by developing case information, evidence, and tracking cases supporting attorney’s trial proceedings.
Legal Assistant Job Duties:
- Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, inputting information into file database and client file, and confirming case status with attorney.
- Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case, scheduling depositions, preparing, and forwarding summonses and subpoenas, preparing and filing discovery requests.
- Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress.
- Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney and clients.
- Supports case preparation by preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses, downloading discovery, and distributing it upon request, organizing materials for team case review.
- Assist with trial preparation, including the preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks.
