What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Aide position at Criminal Justice Services, Division of?
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Program Aide supports the functions of the Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, Interstate Compact Unit. Duties will include, but are not limited to: • Utilizing numerous criminal justice systems, including in the Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System (ICOTS), the Uniform Nationwide Interstate Tracking for Youth (UNITY), and the Integrated Justice (IJ) Portal in the completion of daily tasks• Reviewing incoming and outgoing adult and juvenile interstate transfer applications as well as other requests to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with the respective interstate compact rules and requesting additional information or corrections as needed.• Creating and maintaining an official record of case activities and correspondence in the DCJS-OPCA ITR, which is the case management system used by the Interstate Compact Unit to track activities and case level information.• Initiating and/or responding to all inquiries, via email or telephone, regarding interstate transfer cases. This requires extensive communication with probation department staff, state compact offices and various other stakeholders. • Providing program and technical assistance to county probation departments in the use of ICOTS and/or UNITY, and the application of the rules of the ICAOS and/or ICJ. • Assisting in ensuring New York State compliance with the federal rules located in the ICAOS and ICJ, as well as compliance audit measures applied by either commission. This is accomplished by processing transfer requests accurately and efficiently, analyzing reports and spreadsheets and communicating with county probation departments regarding due dates for tasks located in the ICOTS or UNITY, and communicating with unit supervisors if needed. • Preparing written summaries in support of the Interstate Unit responsibilities, including gathering, reviewing and evaluating data, drafting action plans, and assisting in the implementation of these plans.

Minimum Qualifications NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
