Position : CNA or Home Health Aide
Schedule : 36 hours per week; Three 12-hour shifts (7am 7pm)
Location : Riverside, CT
Salary : $35-45 / hour based on level of experience
Overview :
A lovely 65-year-old female client in the Greenwich, CT area is looking to add a CNA or HHA for three (12-hour) shifts per week to her current care team. Generally, the shifts will be M-F, but flexibility for weekend shifts would be helpful. The client currently has around-the-clock care and this person would be an addition to the team. There are always 2 caregivers for each shift.
The client has a degenerative neuromuscular disease that presents similarly to ALS. She requires full care but can still communicate verbally. There is no manual lifting required but training for the use of a Sara Lift will be provided. Administering medications, feeding meals and providing hydration, bathing, and accompanying client to her weekly salon appointment are just a few of the role tasks. Some light cooking (steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes, for example) and cleaning of the clients living area are required. There is a housekeeper for weekly deep cleaning. The client also has a personal assistant, and RN-Staff Supervisor in house 5 days / week and always available by phone.
Daily Tasks Include :
Getting client in and out of bed
Bathing, grooming, oral care, and giving medications
Dressing and undressing
Total assist and full transfers using Sara Lift, due to lack of ambulation / mobility
Being aware of the clients comfort level and changing positions as needed
Providing nutrition and hydration by feeding all meals, snacks, and liquids as needed. Following protocols for high risk choking patients per speech therapist. Make meals and snacks as requested.
Bathroom as necessary with all transfers. Day and nighttime bathroom care and hygiene
Working with therapists, (PT / OT / Speech / massage) and assisting as needed, learning and implementing exercises as directed, using devices as directed
Transport patient in adapted vehicle to appointments, including, doctors, hairdressers, etc.
Learning and refreshing skills as clients needs change (e.g. Using Lifevac for aspiration)
Listening to clients needs and responding effectively and empathically
Clients laundry and bed linens
Communicating with team daily and reporting to team manager
Providing companionship such as watching movies, singing, conversing
Keeping the clients living quarters and general area clean and disinfected
Salary : $35 - $45
