Position Overview:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist for Behavioral Health is a vital role responsible for managing and overseeing patient balances, insurance billing, and the entire receivables process in a behavioral health setting. This position requires a deep understanding of insurance processes, including denials, rejections, appeals, and follow-ups with insurance payers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Account Management: Oversee and manage patient accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all billing information.
2. Insurance Billing: Submit claims to insurance companies, follow up on unpaid claims, and work towards minimizing claim rejections and denials.
3. Denial and Rejection Handling: Investigate and resolve insurance denials and rejections, and initiate appeals as necessary.
4. Payment Plans and Collections: Set up and manage payment plans for patients, send out balance invoices, and diligently follow up to ensure the collection of 100% of the amount owed.
5. Delinquent Accounts: Identify accounts that are 90 days delinquent and initiate the process of sending these accounts to collections, aiming to recoup the full amount owed.
6. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their queries and concerns related to billing and payments.
7. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all billing activities, payments, adjustments, and collections.
8. Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices in billing and accounts receivable management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
- Strong understanding of medical billing, insurance procedures, and regulations.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and MS Office Suite.
Proficient in ABA and behavioral health accounts
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Pay: $54,677.00 - $62,454.00 per year
