Position Summary:
This position is a highly cross-functional role responsible for both federal and state regulatory compliance for all wineries owned by Crimson Wine Group. The Compliance Specialist will own key components of compliance. The position is highly visible throughout the organization and will be a key business partner for all managers, in particular the winemaking, accounting, and marketing teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Responsible for the timely filing of all sales and excise tax returns and related payments. This includes working with internal stakeholders to confirm internal deadlines are met and to resolve any reporting and payment issues.
- Timely renew all direct to consumer and wholesale licenses. Under supervision of the Senior Compliance Manager, prepare and file new license applications and any license updates as required.
- Prepare timely monthly wholesale shipments report extracted from the accounting (ERP) system and load to Ship Compliant for filings, resolve discrepancies in data as required.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Payable team to accurately and timely record all compliance payments.
- Prepare, file, and track all Certificate of Label Approval (COLA) applications with the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) to ensure timely approval in advance of business requirements and ensure documentation is properly organized and updated internally by policy.
- Prepare and file home state reporting for Washington (774 & Combined Excise Tax), Oregon (Privilege Tax, OWB) and California (Wine Grower/Shipper, Water Rights, Environmental) State winery compliance reporting.
- Prepare and file monthly TTB Winemaking Operations Reports (also called 5120 or 702) and issue excise tax payments for all wineries timely with the TTB including reconciliation of activity and excise tax credit position to maximize benefit to the Company, coordinating with the winemaking team and accounting as needed.
- Maintain fictitious business name filings for all wineries and contracted bottling.
- Proactively manage wholesale and DTC SKU release dates in the accounting (ERP) system working closely with sales teams.
- Manage pricing setup, changes, and special pricing requests in the accounting (ERP) system as approved per the price approval process including discounts as needed. Also responsible for archiving documentation in accordance with company policy and in compliance with internal SOX controls.
- Collaborate with department managers to support overall department goals and objectives and serve as the compliance subject matter expert for the Company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent, minimum six years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Notary Public Commission or ability to obtain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) at an intermediate level is required.

The projected (base) pay range for this position is $75K to $85K per year in addition to an annual bonus. The range is the projected compensation for this position however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
