Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, R&D FP&A, this role will be an integral part of the R&D Finance team. Supporting our Discovery business leaders, this team member will provide value-added analyses and insights through forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting and variance analysis. The Discovery function currently encompasses the Chemistry, Biology, DMPK, and Toxicology departments, but may evolve to better align with Crinetics’ growth strategy. Within Crinetics, Discovery is the research engine that produces drug candidates for nomination to enter clinical development. This role will also provide additional project-related support to the Financial Planning & Analysis team as well as perform ad-hoc analysis as needed. This position is hybrid and will be based out of our San Diego HQ.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
- Serve as a business partner liaison between Discovery leadership and FP&A
- Assist functional leaders in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecast process with a proactive mindset
- Collaboratively work with Discovery function to understand and analyze their P&Ls and identify trends to improve financial forecasting
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to key stakeholders to support efficient and effective business decisions
- Build successful cross-functional relationships with budget owners
- Conduct monthly budget vs actual variance analysis
- Maintain and update monthly financial reports for budget owners
- Monitor and approve purchase requisitions to ensure alignment with budget
- Produce ad-hoc analysis and reporting as necessary
- Drive continuous improvement of internal financial reporting and forecasting processes
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in corporate finance or FP&A
- Solid understanding of financial reports (primarily P&L)
- Familiarity with FP&A software and ERP platforms (Netsuite and Adaptive experience preferred, but not required)
- Strong experience working in excel
- Precise attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize in deadline-driven environment
Preferred:
- R&D biotech/pharma experience preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The Anticipated Base Salary Range: 70,000-$87,000

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education.
