Court Advocacy Supervisor:
Oversee the services provided through the court advocacy and LEAV Programs including encouragement of use of emergency services and counseling referrals. Responsible for effective and efficient communication and coordination of services within these programs, delivery of trauma informed best practice techniques within the program, training staff and associated professional partners, and scheduling court staffing. The Court Advocacy Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the programs are utilizing a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that is in line with harm reduction principles and ensure following all rules of the funding sources and utilizing resources effectively.
Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participates as a member of Support Services Management Team charged with program development, development and maintenance of agency procedures, and cooperative/collaborative program service delivery throughout the agency.
- Responsible for creating systems of operation and policies/procedures necessary for the assigned programs.
- Implements agency policy and procedures. Follow all CCSS policies and procedures for client safety, confidentiality, and services; work consistently and responsibly with staff, volunteers, and interns; maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Responds to personnel issues with respect to agency policy and procedures.
- Remains cognizant of current developments in the area of domestic violence and court procedures.
- Understand and follow all grant requirements for the program including reporting, program goals, timelines, and working with court and MOU partners.
- Provide operational coverage as needed.
- Coordinate and lead team meetings, participate in team meetings, supervision with the Director and other meetings and trainings as requested.
- Participates in community meetings relevant to programs and populations served.
- Responsible for hiring, training, individual supervision, development, evaluation, and discipline of assigned employees.
- Ensure that your team of direct reports is working together and collaboratively with other Divisions to best serve victims.
- Ensures that your team of direct reports are working productively and held accountable to perform their essential job duties.
- Oversee the provision of accurate and consistent referral services; maintain knowledge of community and social service resources; provide advocacy as needed.
- Oversees Empower file compliance, and service provision according to funder guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services.
Court Advocacy/Community Policing Programs:
· Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises all staff in the Court Advocacy and LEAV programs, including providing development and discipline, up to and including termination.
· Develops and oversees a range of court advocacy services to clients, both agency and court referrals including the facilitation of a Legal Support Group at CCSS.
· Oversees domestic violence training for those personnel in the Criminal Justice system, i.e., police depts., states attorneys, judges, etc.
· Participates in and develops community education programs, particularly in the area of court advocacy and related in‑service training.
· Trouble shooting for specific problems encountered by clients with law enforcement, court personnel, and on occasion, other agencies the client is experiencing difficulties with. Also, trouble shoots issues within the Court Advocacy Program.
· Manage monthly scheduling of court advocates in 5th and 6th District Courts to ensure coverage during all business hours.
· Network with other agencies to obtain information about the legal service resources that are available for CCSS clients in Civil Court.
· Advises and assists administrative staff in planning and program development, particularly in the area of court advocacy.
· Trains and supervises designated volunteers and interns and all other court advocate staff members in the civil and criminal court to develop and maintain effective court advocacy programs.
· Coordinate team meetings with Court Advocates monthly.
· Conduct individual 1:1 sessions with Court Advocates on at least a bi-weekly basis to ensure their performance development.
· Provide coverage as needed for the Court Advocacy program.
· Attends monthly staff meetings, management meetings, training, in services and seminars at the request of Supervisor or Executive Director.
Provide Court Advocacy to agency clients when needed:
· Provides court advocacy for clients, both agency and court referrals; serves as a liaison between domestic violence court and police.
· Provides consistent information to victims who are court clients and non-clients who are in need of DV options relevant to their situations, either in person or telephone inquiries, as it pertains to the Illinois Domestic Violence Act.
· Provides consistent and caring crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support and educates victims on the dynamics of domestic violence as needed in the course of providing court advocacy services to clients.
· Provides information and referrals to additional services and legal resources.
Salary : $50,000 - $57,000
