Position: Police Response Advocate Coordinator/ Junction City
Responsible to: Senior Case Advocate/ Geary
Primary Responsibilities: This position is a supervisory position and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Police Response Advocate (PRA) Program in Junction City. The Junction City PRA Program provides prompt, skilled responses to domestic violence crime scenes in collaboration with the Junction City Police Department to provide safety planning, information, and referrals for victims.
Specific Duties:
- Provide PRA response to domestic violence law enforcement calls during business hours, as needed.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of on-call PRAs.
- Develop and maintain on-call PRA schedule; ensure coverage of all shifts.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Junction City Police Department and other criminal justice responders to ensure victim-centered responses.
- Attend law enforcement briefings at least quarterly to provide information about the PRA program.
- Provide advocacy services to PRA victims and victims in criminal cases, including but not limited to: crisis intervention, personal advocacy, medical advocacy, court advocacy, crisis hotline, law enforcement advocacy, supportive counseling, support groups, information and referrals, and transportation.
- Develop and maintain relationships and points of contact with community partners and systems to increase victim safety and access to resources.
- Facilitate the Geary County Domestic Violence Task Force, including agendas, minutes, meetings, and membership.
- Effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate in a timely manner with other advocates to ensure victims are best served.
- Create a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery.
- Participate in organizational meetings and other functions, as needed.
- Assist with outreach efforts and community education to ensure information is readily available and accessible to victims.
- Participate in professional development opportunities pertinent to the position.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent; one year supervision experience; experience working with victims/ survivors of sexual and domestic violence preferred; knowledge of domestic violence and criminal justice response; ability to relate to diverse individuals and groups in a non-judgmental manner; ability to work with people from underserved or traditionally underserved communities; ability to handle and manage stress; ability to handle emergency or crisis situations; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to be flexible; ability to work independently and as a team; ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments; ability to cover on-call PRA shifts if needed; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred; residence in Junction City, KS required. Each staff member of The Crisis Center, Inc. must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and insurance at all times, and be capable of lifting and carrying 30 pounds. Must be able to pass criminal and child abuse background check.
