Position: Co-Shelter Coordinator

Purpose/Function of Position:

The Interim Co-Shelter Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supporting case management activities within the shelter, ensuring that all clients receive high-quality, trauma-informed services. This position supervises a team of case managers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure the successful completion of client goals. The Interim Co-Shelter Coordinator must demonstrate strong leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of case management best practices. Additionally, the role requires active involvement in crisis intervention, intake support, and client advocacy.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Supervise and mentor case managers, ensuring they provide consistent, high-quality service to shelter clients.

  • Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations for the case management team.

  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new case managers.

  • Leadcase reviews and staff meetings to ensure collaborative problem-solving and service optimization.

  • Oversee case management for shelter clients, ensuring their goals are met effectively and in alignment with the agency's trauma-informed care model.

  • Conduct client intakes as necessary, providing crisis intervention and direct support.

  • Assist clients with safety planning, resource referrals, and goal setting.

  • Facilitate group sessions and classes that support clients' goals and recovery processes.

  • Monitor client progress and adjust case plans as needed.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, services provided, and case management outcomes.

  • Maintain case management logs, ensuring compliance with grant and agency requirements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external service providers and community resources.

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the shelter, including client scheduling, facility oversight, and adherence to shelter policies.

  • Coordinate shelter activities and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all residents.

  • Serve as part of the on-call team for crisis support as needed.

  • Assist in tracking and reporting case management data for grant compliance.

  • Collaborate with the Interim Vice President of Programs on grant-related activities and reporting.

  • Participate in community outreach and educational initiatives to support the Crisis Center's mission and services.

  • Represent the shelter in community meetings and partnerships as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

  • 1–2 years of experience in case management, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, and trauma-informed care.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

  • Requires the use of hands, arms, legs, neck, and head while performing tasks.

  • Involves occasional twisting at the desk when answering phones or using a keyboard.

  • Requires retrieving files by pulling and pushing cabinet drawers with occasional bending,

    squatting, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level.

  • Involves frequent data entry into a computer keyboard.

  • Requires extensive speaking in person and on the telephone.

  • May involve occasional lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.

  • Limited travel may be required.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, addiction disorders, and potentially hostile clients.
