Job Description:
A Domestic Violence Advocate is responsible for providing support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence. They work closely with victims of domestic abuse to help them navigate the legal and social systems and access the resources they need to rebuild their lives. The Domestic Violence Advocate also provides emotional support and encouragement to clients, helping them to develop a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence
- Assist clients in developing safety plans and connecting with community resources
- Accompany clients to court hearings and other legal proceedings
- Conduct outreach and educational activities to raise awareness about domestic violence and available resources
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records
- Attend team meetings and trainings as required
- Participate in community collaborations and networks related to domestic violence prevention and intervention
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence and the legal and social systems that impact survivors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients' privacy
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
