Position: Prevention Education Specialist
Status: Full time, hourly, non-exempt
Supervisor: Prevention Services Director
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Education or related field required.
- Prefers one-year public speaking and workshop facilitation.
- Knowledge and skills in community relations and/or teaching.
- Experience with computer programs including Word and Excel.
- Exceptional writing skills.
- Sound judgment and organizational skills.
- Ability to respond in a supportive manner to women, children, and men in domestic violence/ sexual assaults/ crisis response situations.
- An ability to work with all victims of sexual assault and domestic violence without bias or prejudice regarding prostitution, drug abuse, abortion, use of alcohol, difference in abilities, sexual orientation, age, race, color, creed, or religious affiliation.
- Display sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Flexibility required. Participation in evening and weekend presentations, health fairs, etc. is required.
- Ability to take call on a rotational basis as part of the Crisis Response Team.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish strongly preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Agency duties shall be, but not limited to:
- Increase the visibility of the agency by contacting schools, clubs, civic groups, news media, etc. about our programs and events.
- May take pictures, produce artwork or other creative works for agency projects, all which becomes property of agency.
- Maintain good relationships with schools, colleges and other community groups.
- Develops and/or adapts curriculum for presentations & ensures they are evidence or research based.
- Responsible for coordinating and organizing awareness campaigns for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Dating Violence awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and other mission-related awareness campaigns.
- Competently present programs to audiences of all ages on issues such as safety, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, male involvement, healthy relationships and bullying among others.
- Present the agency’s prevention and awareness programs to all eligible classes within the agency’s service area school districts each year.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Participate on Crisis Response Team providing 24/7 response when on call.
- Attends trainings as required by the agency, grantors, or supervisor.
- Adhere to Crisis Center of West Texas Policy and Procedure Handbook.
- Conduct the position in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Prevention Services Director or the Executive Director.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
