Crisis Services is looking to add a Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Campus Advocate to our Advocate Departments Case Management and Prevention Team. We are seeking professionals with public health, human services, social work, or education degrees who are interested in supporting our mission to provide support to anyone in need.

About this opportunity:

The Advocate Department of Crisis Services is Erie Countys Rape Crisis Center and a licensed Non-Residential Domestic Violence Service Provider in New York State. The Department provides comprehensive victim services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence and/or elder abuse. Campus Advocates provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and follow-up services to a small caseload of survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or stalking across local college campus. They collaborate with police (campus and local), district attorneys, and other campus-based and/or community-based agencies to serve student and staff survivors. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing data-driven prevention education curricula, as well as social media content, to promote social norms and build capacity to foster a community of hopefulness, safety, and shared responsibility to prevent interpersonal violence across the Social Ecological Model (SEM).

Job Type:

  • Full Time, 40 hours/week

Pay:

  • $21.61 - $25.30 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Some evening and/or weekend hours, as needed, and required on-call responsibilities.

Work Setting:

  • Onsite at Crisis Services, 100 River Rock Road, Suite 300, Buffalo, NY
  • Co-location at local college campuses
  • Hybrid Remote/Onsite Schedule may be available

What you will bring:

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters degree from an accredited college and/or university in human service field, public health, social work or education.
  • A minimum of 6 months relevant work experience preferably providing direct services in domestic/sexual violence response and/or prevention work.
  • Experience in public speaking, community education, or training facilitation strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work with and mobilize a wide variety of stakeholders and experience in higher education a plus.
  • Experience relating to and engaging with diverse populations in a variety of settings.
  • Valid NYS drivers license is required with a clean driving record and access to reliable automobile.

  • EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in public health, human services, social work, or education required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required plus a minimum of 6 months to 1-year relevant work experience in public speaking, community education, or training facilitation required, and one (1) year of relevant work experience in the field of domestic violence and/or sexual assault strongly preferred OR Masters degree in related field. Experience working with college-aged populations preferred. Capable of working with and mobilizing a wide variety of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability and experience to relate to and engage diverse populations in a variety of settings.
  • Valid NYS drivers license is required with a clean driving record and access to reliable automobile.

  • SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking dynamics and effects, public awareness, and crisis intervention services.
  • Understanding of New York State Enough is Enough Legislation and Title IX. Clear and calm judgment centered on survivors, discretion and competency for strategic and diplomatic collaboration.
  • Proven skills in and knowledge of training facilitation and public speaking with excellent presentation skills: The ability to develop and facilitate group presentations in classroom and/or virtual settings. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and establish priorities in a rapidly-changing and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to foster collaboration to achieve prevention education goals and objectives.
  • Ability to demonstrate high level of compassion, confidentiality, and understanding for clients.
  • Knowledge of practices and principles of empowerment and ability to maintain ethical boundaries with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an interest in social media content curation and platform use for prevention-related messaging.
  • Must have organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
