Position Title: Childcare Lead
Reports To: Director of Childcare

Primary Function:
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and children in day-to-day activities in the classroom and helping to create a safe and caring environment. Assisting in all activities to improve the overall care and quality of education.
Requirements:
Educational Level: Appropriate 2 yr. degree (60 semester hours) or posting a passing score on the Paraprofessional Licensing Test and minimum of GED.
Certification/Licensing: Valid Paraprofessional or Aide License.
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and strategies. Demonstration of fair and equitable classroom management skills. Computer literacy and a willingness to learn techniques for computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
Infant/ child CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain these)
Ability to form positive relationships with children. Knowledge of social, emotional needs of children.
Knowledge of lesson planning and curriculum implementation.
Adequate knowledge on principles and policies of safety and suitable activities for children
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills, and stamina to perform essential duties.
Salary: CCSS Classified Salary Schedule – A08, (start pay $14.52- max pay $22.71) steps awarded with verifiable experience 240 work days (work days may change based on needs)
Previous teaching or assistant teaching position with a public or private school system, a quality preschool, childcare center or church nursery, PREFERRED
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
Must be able to bend, reach, push, kneel, stoop, squat, and stand for a majority of the day
Must be able to provide children with assistance with the following: personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, lifting, and feeding

Report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to supervisor
Maintain confidentiality
