Propagation Supervisor:
The Propagation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of propagation, mother plant care, and vegetative plant growth. This role ensures that high-quality, healthy plants are produced through best practices in cloning, transplanting, and environmental management. The Propagation Supervisor will work closely with the cultivation team to maintain genetic integrity, optimize plant health, and ensure an efficient workflow from propagation through the vegetative stage.
Key Responsibilities:Propagation & Cloning:
- Oversee the cloning process, including cutting selection, hormone application, and media preparation to maximize healthy rooting success rates.
- Implement and monitor standardized cloning protocols to maintain consistency in plant development.
- Maintain environmental conditions within cloning areas, including humidity, temperature, and lighting, to ensure optimal plant propagation.
- Track clone production numbers, rooting percentages, and overall viability to inform future improvements.
Mother Plant Management:
- Maintain a healthy and productive mother plant stock to ensure consistent clone quality and quantity.
- Implement pruning, feeding, and integrated pest management (IPM) practices to maximize mother plant longevity and vigor.
- Monitor and document mother plant health, strain performance, and any necessary plant rotations or replacements.
- Ensure that all genetic material is properly labeled and documented to prevent errors in strain tracking.
Vegetative Plant Care:
- Oversee transplanting operations to ensure seamless transition from propagation to vegetative growth stages.
- Monitor plant development and adjust environmental controls, irrigation schedules, and nutrient regimens accordingly.
- Implement proper training techniques such as topping, low-stress training (LST), and pruning to prepare plants for the flowering stage.
- Coordinate pest and disease monitoring and mitigation strategies in collaboration with the IPM team.
Team Supervision & Compliance:
- Train and supervise propagation and vegetative staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with state and company regulations regarding plant tracking and movement.
- Ensure that all propagation and vegetative areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with biosecurity protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be 21 years of age or older
· High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
· Familiarity with cannabis plant biology and the post-harvest process, including timing, techniques, and optimal handling practices.
· Strong understanding of Connecticut cannabis regulations and compliance requirements for cultivation and harvest.
· Knowledge of plant health, pest management, and best practices for harvesting cannabis plants.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high-quality standards.
· Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams.
