Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Track Coach to support our track and field program. The Assistant Coach will work under the direction of the Head Coach to develop athletes, implement training plans, and foster a positive, competitive, and sportsmanlike environment. This role requires a passion for track and field, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and motivate high school aged student athletes.
This position is a seasonal position that works from March to June 2025 (dates to be determined), requires occasional travel to events, and is paid a biweekly stipend.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in coaching or in competition at the collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of the sport and its rules, as well as coaching principles, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals, including student athletes, coaching staff, and administrators.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for meets as needed.
- Willingness and ability to complete a student safety training, pre-employment criminal background check, and school Code of Conduct.
- Master's degree in Sports Management or a related field.
- Experience in youth mentoring or working with student athletes.
- Certification in strength training or sports performance.
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting team practices, focusing on skill development, strategy, and teamwork.
- Develop athletes' skills in various track and field events, including sprints, distance hurdles, jumps, and throws.
- Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to student athletes, helping them develop their athletic skills and personal growth.
- Provide guidance on proper technique, conditioning, and injury prevention.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and team events to ensure safety and sportsmanship.
- Support the Head Coach in managing team logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment inventory, and scheduling.
- Uphold school policies and athletic department guidelines.
