Position Summary
The Assistant Principal, in collaboration with the Principal, assumes responsibility for the quality of the instructional program. As such, the duties of the Assistant Principal span several areas (Instructional Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Staffing and Recruitment, School Climate & Culture, and Stakeholder Relationships). The Assistant Principal collaborates with students, parents, and faculty & staff at Cristo Rey Richmond High School to ensure students are prepared for success in college through a rigorous, college prep curriculum, and models professional and respectful interactions with other members of the school community at all times.
What You’ll Do
Instructional Leadership and Personnel Management
- Lead towards Academic Vision and constantly monitor progress towards this vision.
- Collaborate with Principal on all hiring, orientation, and professional development of faculty and academic support staff.
- Provide instructional support and feedback to faculty including classroom observations, coaching and evaluations.
- Ensure an academic and professional tone in our classrooms and in our school building.
- Implement the TRU Framework for strong instructional practice.
- Monitor and support the implementation of the Cristo Rey Network Curriculum.
- Support faculty in curriculum development through annual plans, unit plans, and lesson plan reviews.
- Ensure classroom tasks and instruction are college-preparatory and on-grade level.
- Work collaboratively with all staff to create a college-going culture.
Student Support and Program Development
- Work closely with teachers, parents and families to support student success.
- Analyze student data, including KPIs and academic metrics, to anticipate academic needs and make recommendations concerning the instructional program, curricular, and academic support needs.
- Coordinate all student testing including MAPs, P/SATs, EOCAs, midterms & finals.
- Coordinate data review sessions with faculty to examine student performance and reflect on teacher effectiveness.
School Operations
- Design annual academic calendar and daily bell schedules for all faculty and students.
- Coordinate and communicate all school activities.
- Approve teacher’s leave requests. Maintain teacher coverage.
- Assign and monitor teacher duties beyond classroom instruction.
- Work as an integral member of the school leadership team, actively collaborating with the Principal and other administrators to ensure that the school operates as a high-functioning organization.
- Be the stand-in for the Principal. Assume responsibility for Crisis Management in a crisis or emergency when Principal is off campus.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the principal.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of students and families.
- Outstanding interpersonal and public relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
- Ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, schedule, and complete job tasks effectively and accurately.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant instructional technology including by not limited to the Google suite.
- Ability to appreciate and communicate a passion for faith-based college preparatory education.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, network and state.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- Possession (or in process) of a valid Virginia license with Administration endorsement (required)
- Five (5) years of urban teaching experience (preferred)
- Bilingual (not required)
- Superior communication skills, the ability to interact confidently and effectively with school staff, students, donors, trustees, school administration
- Experience in a faith-based school or not-for-profit environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team that requires humility, integrity, tolerance a desire for continuous improvement and openness to feedback
- Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of CRRHS.
- Sensitivity to the ethnic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds of the students.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
