Cristo Rey San José is a Jesuit, Catholic college-prep high school where students of any faith commit to a rigorous curriculum and professional work experience. Students realize their inherent potential and prepare to complete a post-secondary education that will set them on a path toward a sustainable, fulfilling future. Through the Ignatian charism of cura personalis, students facing barriers to opportunity become leaders filled with passion, purpose, confidence and conscience.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Activities Director is for a 60% position to be filled with other duties including academic teaching positions available for a full time position for the 2025-2026 school year. The Student Activities Director is an integral member of the Student Life Team. They coordinate all non-athletic student activities and serves as the leader of the Student Leadership Society (SLS). The Activities Director oversees extracurricular activities for the students including helping create and maintain schedules for various clubs and activities throughout the school year. They also help plan, organize and oversee different activities for school clubs or organizations. They may provide equipment and supplies for events, as well as help set-up areas for events. High school activities directors must also ensure that school policy is followed at all events and gatherings to ensure the safety of students and guests. The Activities Director teaches and supports our Student Leadership Society class that meets daily to help plan rallies, dances, spirit weeks, clubs, and other activities for the school. Additionally, they collaborate with the administration to carry out the school’s graduation ceremonies yearly.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Student Activities/Teaching
  • Provide assistance in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and supervising assemblies, rallies, dances, club activities, field trips, activity buses, and graduation activities.
  • Supervise the selection process of Student Leadership Society Members.
  • Teach the SLS class.
  • Supervise and advise the organization and operation of SLS including all records, documents, and meetings.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the school's student activities fundraising and activity calendar.
  • Participate in bi-weekly Student Life Team meetings to help form school culture.
  • Responsible for financial matters pertaining to Student Life; supervise student activities accounts, budget, receipts, and expenditures. Approve all requisitions for expenditures from student body funds.
  • Monitor and support the tracking of our house system competitions.
  • Supervise the maintenance and inventory of student body owned supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise the sale of tickets, etc., during the school day for student body sponsored events.
  • Arrange and maintain assembly and rally schedules. Assist in arranging for equipment, facilities, and agendas for assemblies and rallies.
  • Ensure that all clubs and organizations abide by school rules and procedures.
  • Verify that all participants in activities are academically eligible to participate.
  • Assist club advisors and members with the technical aspects of their obligations, i.e., budgets, constitutions, financial procedures; offer assistance in planning their activities.
  • Maintain activity announcements and communication around school pertaining to student activities, i.e., bulletin boards, student awards, retreats, etc.
  • Participate cooperatively in the development of the school budget.
  • Provide other related duties as may be directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
Summer Bridge
  • Monitor and support students during break times, ensuring their well-being while encouraging positive social interactions and promoting an active, healthy lifestyle through recreational activities.
  • Promote student engagement and culture building to encourage student participation in student life during the school year.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of teaching, educational, and/or administrative experience, preference with low-income student population
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preference for familiarity with Jesuit education and Ignatian spirituality.
  • Understanding of cultural competency and the context of our school community.
  • Demonstrated skill in organization and collaboration.
  • Ability to relate to a variety of people and needs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Spanish-speaking preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Understand the speech of another person.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • See details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
  • Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION
  • Range between $69,629 and $134,259 on a salary schedule based on education and years of experience. Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Employees’ premiums are covered for medical, dental and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected. This position is eligible for enrollment in the group voluntary retirement plan – 403b.
  • Contract is 12 months.
