Description
This new Controller will manage the financial operations of a homeowner’s insurance carrier, including accounting, reporting, compliance and cash flow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with leadership, FP&A, actuaries and auditors to ensure financial integrity and optimize performance.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure compliance with GAAP and Statutory Reporting (Yellow Book).
Ensure liquidity for operations, oversee investment accounting for reserves and align with company investment strategy.
Maintain strong internal controls, ensure audit compliance, and mitigate financial risks in investments, claims, underwriting and reinsurance.
Lead and develop finance professionals, foster collaboration across departments and build a high-performing finance team.
Manage audits, regulatory exams, and relationships with auditors, regulators, actuaries and senior management.
Optimize financial systems, enhance reporting tools and implement technology advancements.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA preferred.
10 years in financial management / accounting (ideally with an insurance carrier)
5 years in leadership roles.
Expertise in GAAP, SSAP, Yellow Book, insurance regulations and financial reporting.
Proficiency with financial systems (NetSuite) and insurance software.
Advanced Excel, financial modeling and analytical skills.
