What are the responsibilities and job description for the A/R Specialist position at Critical Care and Pulmonary Consultants?

Applicant must have 3 years of experience in a medical billing department.
Critical Care and Pulmonary Consultants, P.C. is an independent group of physicians. Our practice was established in 1996 and consist of hospitalists, intensivists, pulmonologists, and sleep disorder specialists.
This position performs day-to-day aging report review to identify denials and unpaid insurance claims. The position requires an individual with excellent attention to detail skills and prior medical insurance AR experience.
- Contact insurance companies to determine the status of unpaid claims.
- Work outstanding accounts receivable on assigned reports per policy guidelines.
- Submit claim corrections and appeals in a timely manner.
- Investigate and resolve insurance eligibility issues.
- Assist with answering incoming patient phone calls, as needed.
- Investigate insurance refund request for appeal submission or refund processing.
Qualifications
- Requires knowledge of medical billing and collection practices/procedures for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
- Experience with the overall billing process: claims- electronic and paper, authorizations, payment posting, basic CPT coding knowledge, benefit verifications, EOB’s and ERA’s.
- Excellent computer and customer service skills are required.
- Experience review and resolving unpaid claims on aging reports.
- Basic payment posting and reconciliation skills.
- Critical thinking skills to research and identify denial reasons and appropriate resolution is required.
- The ability to research medical policy and reimbursement is required.
- Able to contribute and be part of a team.
- Able to prioritize and work independently
- Ability to utilize various software applications and information systems to perform work processes.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ medical billing office experience is required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience with Blue Cross and/or United Healthcare claims.
- Critical thinking skills to research and identify denial reasons and appropriate resolution is required.
- Basic CPT and ICD10 knowledge required.
Remote: This position may allow the employee to work remotely. The employee must be located within the Denver Metro area.
