Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the nursing operations within the agency. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration
- Provide strategic leadership for the nursing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality assurance.
Patient Care Management
- Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care.
Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, train, and supervise nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and home health aides.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and training programs.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Stay informed about healthcare regulations and update policies accordingly.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
Quality Assurance & Improvement
- Monitor quality indicators and implement improvement initiatives.
- Address and resolve any identified issues to enhance patient care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with physicians, therapists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings for case discussions and care planning.
Budget Management
- Assist in developing and managing the nursing department budget.
- Monitor expenses to meet financial goals.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Address and resolve concerns or complaints professionally.
Qualifications:
- Required: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Proven leadership experience in home healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations in Salt Lake, Idaho.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and implement quality improvement initiatives.
