The Specification Writer will be responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining construction specifications in accordance with the guidelines and standards set by the Construction Specification Institute (CSI). The Specification Writer will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to produce accurate and clear specifications for building projects.

- Create and develop detailed construction specifications for Data Centers. Ensure that specifications comply with CSI Master Format and project requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors to understand project needs, clarify design intent, and resolve and specification-related issues.
- Ensure specifications comply with relevant building codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Conduct in-depth research on materials, products, and construction methods to ensure the correct specifications are applied and meet project requirements, performance criteria, and sustainability goals.
- Coordinate and integrate specifications with other project documents, such as drawings, contracts, and schedules, to ensure alignment across all project documentation.
- Review and edit specifications for clarity, accuracy, and completeness, ensuring that they meet the required industry standards and align with project goals.
- Provide guidance to the project team during the construction phase, addressing any questions or concerns related to specifications and material selections.
- Assist in the preparation of contract documents by ensuring that specifications are clear and complete for contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Incorporate sustainable building practices and materials into specifications, in line with green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL).
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and technologies to provide expert advice on material selection and construction methods. Support the team with training on the use of specifications and relevant software tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a specification writer within the architectural or construction industry.
- Familiarity with CSI Master Format and other relevant standards (e.g., Uni Format, Section Format).
- Experience in drafting, editing, and preparing technical specifications for architectural projects.
- Strong understanding of architectural design, construction methods, materials, and systems.
- Proficiency in specification writing software (e.g., MasterSpec, Spex, or similar tools) and MS Office Suite.
- Experience with construction materials, methods, and building codes. Excellent writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and detail.
- Strong research skills and the ability to stay updated with new products, technologies, and industry developments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) and how it integrates with specification documentation.
- Experience working with international standards or specifications.
