The Department of Public Utilities Customer Service Division is hiring Field Service Representatives lo drive assigned routes and read meters using hand-held device to determine consumption for billing purposes, disconnect services for non-payment, reconnect services for new customers and paid delinquent accounts, locate and mark meters, enter results in appropriate systems, close service orders, perform meter changes, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience
- Must be fully trained on assets including hand-held devices, meters and well the service territory
- Must be dependable, professional, and a great team player
- Great communication and active listening skills
- Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to use and operate tools in general toolbox
- Ability to read and interpret maps and GPS instruments and websites
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work long distances, squat, stoop, climb, reach, while performing the job
- Ability to continually bend and lift meter lids
- Ability to occasionally lift 60 pounds
- Ability to overcome physical barriers such as climbing through brush, getting off and on a truck mounted meter reading platform, and climbing vault ladders
- Ability to work in confined spaces safely and effectively
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Must pass a controlled substance (drug test for employment)
