Classroom Educator
Summary/Objective
Under the supervision of the Director of Child Development Centers, the Classroom Educator will perform daily desk functions, assist in the classroom and with parents and families.
Essential Functions

Classroom Teacher
- Follows Adult and Child Food Program guidelines and accreditation standards.
- Enters data for the on-line Gold Assessment for classrooms.
- Keeps attendance for classroom and clocks children in and out.
- Assists in the classrooms, as needed.
- Engages the children on a daily basis in order to build relationships and facilitate the check in and out procedures.
- Facilitate relationship building with children, teachers and family.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in an early childhood learning environment. The role routinely comes into contact with clients who may have a variety of illness and varying degrees of hygiene. The job also includes frequent exposure to outside weather conditions. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, or sit, talk, see, taste, smell and hear.
The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Job holder must be able to assist other staff during an emergency situation.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is typically Monday through Friday daytime and evening hours. Some holidays may be required. Work times and locations may vary depending upon the Agency needs.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Education and Experience
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
A Criminal Background and Abuse check, as well as an up to date physical, including a TB test is required. A fingerprint background check is also required for all Child Development Programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
- A valid driver’s license and a driving record sufficient to qualify for agency automobile coverage.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
