What are the responsibilities and job description for the Expanded School Mental Health Specialist position at Crittenton Services?
This grant funded position, which is required to be renewed each July, is to work within the designated school/s to provide tier one and tier two services including approved assessments. You will work collaboratively with members of other organizations, designated school officials and teams to meet the goals of the grant which include better student attendance, less suspensions and more parent engagement. This position also uses the assessments to determine if more intensive services are needed for a student including tier three services like behavioral health therapy.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health services field
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with children from at-risk families
- Knowledge of trauma focused treatment including behavioral modifications
- Knowledge of the educational system and its services
- Ability to work with a diversity of cultures with a non-judgmental attitude
- Experience with linkage and referral, advocacy and resource development
- Ability to uphold the Social Work Code of Ethics as it pertains to client, families, co-workers, agency and other professions
- Training experience. Working with groups to teach program curriculum
- Ability to travel; drivers license and insurance statement
- Demonstrate skill with virtual learning and telehealth service delivery
Responsibilities:
- Provide school based mental health services as defined under the auspice of Division of Children Services
- Utilize a framework that includes the full continuum of prevention, early intervention and treatment
- Serves all students in the identified schools and emphasizes shared responsibility between schools and community health providers.
- Engage in both the academic and behavioral health system using a three tier programming (universal prevention, early intervention and intensive treatment)
- Establish a regularly convened leadership team that includes local prevention coalitions for partnership for success coordinators, regional youth services, family resource networks, WVU Centers of Excellence in Disabilities(CED)/Positive Behavior Supports, children’s mental health wraparound providers, children mobile crisis providers, school counselor, school psychologist, school nurse, school social workers, community in schools, attendance director
- Register school with health assessment and performance evaluation system (SHAPE)
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports in schools
- Work collaboratively to decrease school wide attendance
- Work collaboratively to decrease school wide out of school suspensions
- Work collaboratively to increase parent/caregiver involvement in all aspects
- Complete youth services survey (YSS) and YSS-F annually for all students receiving Tier 3
- Attend all technical assistance and training sessions required by BBH and Marshall University Technical Assistance Center
Salary: $18 per hour
