Oncology Nurse (1099 Contract) – Oxnard, CA
We are seeking experienced Oncology Nurse for a 1099 contract role in Oxnard, CA. This position will begin as part-time and transition to full-time. This role is for a large clinical research site network.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Symptom Management
- Assess and monitor patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
- Provide pain management and supportive care to manage treatment side effects.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
2. Treatment Administration
- Administer chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and other oncology medications.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide timely intervention.
- Ensure proper handling, preparation, and disposal of hazardous drugs per safety protocols.
3. Patient Advocacy & Education
- Guide patients through their cancer journey, explaining complex medical information in an understandable way.
- Offer emotional support and connect patients with resources such as support groups, counseling, or palliative care services.
- Advocate for patient needs and ensure individualized care plans are followed.
4. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams
- Work alongside oncologists, radiologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in tumor boards and interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment strategies.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers regarding patient progress and concerns.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatments, assessments, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance oncology nursing care.
Required Skills & Qualifications
✔ Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred.
✔ License: Active RN license in California.
✔ Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) preferred.
✔ Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cancer treatments and symptom management.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with compassion and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation.
Salary : $140 - $170
