TITLE: Building Use Manager
DEPARTMENT: Operations
SUPERVISOR: Director of Human Resources
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time/Exempt
ANNUAL SALARY: $72,280 - $74,360 a year.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Crocker Art Museum is dedicated to promoting an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art. We measure our success by our ability to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the communities we serve. This position helps fulfill this by ensuring the Museums building and equipment are guest ready for operations and events. The incumbent will demonstrate a robust understanding of systems and maintain the Museum’s calendar and liaises with the City of Sacramento and other vendors to maintain the Museum building systems and equipment. The candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of customer service culture in a fast-paced environment by providing day-to-day coaching and leadership to the team. This hands-on role will supervise positions in facilities, custodial, and IT/AV.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Accomplish department objectives by managing staff, planning, and evaluating department activities.
- Provide ongoing training for staff.
- Manage the budget and inventory supplies for Building Use
- Keep all internal calendars up-to-date and staff appropriately for events.
- Resolve internal/external customers' concerns as needed; communicate, assess, and determine solutions.
- This is a hands-on position and will have cross-departmental relationships.
- Respond to after-hour calls and/or emergencies.
- Perform other duties or services, as assigned, to achieve the mission of the Museum.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) of hands-on and administrative experience in public building management with broad responsibility and supervisory experience.
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of project management, general fiscal practices, and personnel management.
- Proven leadership qualities: self-motivation with the ability to innovate and initiate; proven interpersonal skills; demonstrable written and communication skills; and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach customer service skills
- Ability to respond quickly to customer service issues.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexible and variable hours including some weekends and evenings.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise directly: Custodial, facilities, IT/AV personnel.
- Supervise indirectly: Security and outside vendors.
INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Museum’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan and institutional DEAI initiatives.
- Commit to a positive organizational culture based on mutual respect, cooperation, and openness to other’s perspectives.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the Facility Rental expense and revenue budgets and works closely with Managers of Museum Store and Visitor Services to develop their budgets.
- Adhere to PCI standards when processing customer payment transactions.
- Utilize Crocker Resources wisely
