POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Part -Time Custodian
DEPARTMENT: Operations
SUPERVISOR: Building Use Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time/Non-Exempt (up to 20 hours per week)
SALARY RANGE: $19.50 an hour/ 999 hours per year
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Crocker Art Museum brings people together and connects them in unexpected ways with art, ideas, each other, and the world around them. This position helps fulfill this by keeping the Museum and grounds clean and orderly to ensure the comfort and safety of visitors, staff, and collections is upheld. Provide support services to a variety of Crocker programming. Set up and clear out spaces in Museum used for various activities and events, in accordance with written and verbal instructions. Placement of chairs, tables, audiovisual equipment, electrical connections, trash receptacles, etc. in accordance with user requests and in such a way that the space and Museum collection are protected from potential damage.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include but are not limited to, the following:
Clean and maintain the interior and exterior spaces of the Museum. Provide services for the Museum’s programming. This includes but is not limited to:
- Frequent cleaning of lavatories, kitchen areas, and public spaces.
- Empty trash receptacles as needed.
- Set up and strike furniture and equipment for programs and events.
- Occasionally set up and monitor A/V equipment.
- Pressure wash building exterior spaces, surfaces, and equipment.
- Occasional project related work such as painting and equipment repair.
- Clean windows and other glass surfaces
- Notify supervisor of any needed repairs identified to Museum property or equipment.
- Notify supervisor of equipment and supply needs.
- Occasionally escort and monitor contractors working in gallery spaces.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of use of basic materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in facility
- management, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic safety rules.
- Willingness to take initiative to identify and solve problems.
- Ability to communicate well with others, interacting in a positive way to represent the Museum.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

- Purchase equipment and supplies on the Museum’s behalf with the approval of the
- Supervisor.
- Utilize Crocker Resources wisely.
