BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this job is to direct and coordinate construction activities of aerial and buried cable. Job requires experience managing construction teams and advanced industry concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks, relying on experience, and judgment to perform the functions of the job. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
ESSENTIAL JON FUNCTIONS:
The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties as required by the company.
- Oversee construction technician / workers, utilizing knowledge of telephone / broadband plant construction and related equipment. Working with copper and fiber optic networks. May travel to job site involving operating a company vehicle requiring a valid driver’s license and may need a CDL
- Utilize knowledge of broadband plant construction and related equipment, could operate necessary construction equipment
- Receive and manage daily work orders and check out materials needed from warehouse
- Must have ability to read and understand prints, construction drawings, and assist in redlining as build changes
- Must have ability to work with GPS and GIS systems
- Oversee maintenance of plant vehicles including recording weekly maintenance report. Ensure that all maintenance is being kept on schedule for vehicles and machinery
- Responsible for adherence to all standard operating procedures to promote safety of all employees
- Must have ability to use electronic mapping tools, operate a computer for mapping, work order, service orders and other tools ad systems. Ability to read and understand plant maps using paper and online maps
- Maintain records of materials used for warehouse records
- Ensure the adherence to all standard operating procedures to promote safety including utilizing necessary safety equipment
- Knowledge of the operation of various construction machinery including backhoe, mini track, cable plows, and trenchers, and other machines
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Any other duties that may be assigned
Job Qualifications:
Education/Experience - High school diploma, GED, or three (3) years of equivalent experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Requires an understanding of telephone plant construction and related equipment, written and verbal communication skills. Must have ability to use a computer and view/update plant records system.
