Site Director
Croda’s lipid manufacturing site in Alabaster is the largest manufacturing site in our Life Sciences business, focused on the research and production of polar lipids through our Avanti brand.
Due to continued investment in the site since Croda acquired Avanti Polar Lipids in 2020, we are now looking to recruit a Site Director who can lead organisational and cultural change aimed at achieving our growth plans through capex and continuous improvements in all areas of operations.
Leading a cross functional site leadership team you will also be tasked with creating high-performance culture in all areas of the site. This is therefore a role for a high potential talent to join the organisation and lead a multi-year change project who has ambitions to move into more senior positions within the organisation.
Who we're looking for:
- Degree, Msc or PhD in a Science (Biologics, Chemistry etc) or Engineering discipline with prior site leadership experience working to cGMP quality standards.
- Demonstratable track record of leading sustainable cultural and operational change and driving transformation within all areas of the site.

Curious mindset with a highly creative and entrepreneurial approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and leading a high-performance culture on site

Strong SHE and Quality systems appreciation with the ability to lead a zero-harm safety culture

Excellent coaching skills to develop talent at multiple levels in the organisation

Ambitious individual who is highly mobile to relocate in the US and overseas for future leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a champion for the site, influencing peers, board and exec members, to promote inward investment in new products, processes and assets.
- Lead recruitment, line management and organizational development of the site to achieve robust succession plans whilst ensuring high potential talents are being developed at all levels of the site.
- Compliance of the site with all applicable local, country and international legislation requirements including Health, Safety and Environment, Fiscal, Company, Employment and Competition Laws.

Develop and maintain the 3–5-year site strategy through liaison with other Croda sites and the commercial teams to maximize the contribution from the site and drive improvements in defined areas.

Prioritize investment of resource on legal compliance, including SHE to ensure the site is in a leading position with all applicable legislation and external standards

Work closely with Croda businesses (sales, marketing R&D etc) to develop new processes and products to maximize site profitability
Implement and manage effective budget management structures whilst ensuring effective management of the Capex program
- Stimulate and encourage creativity within the site management team to create a continuous improvement culture on site.
