The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary :

The Director, Fundraising Campaigns & Volunteer Engagement (Special Events) is a lead fundraising position responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies that generate revenue in support of the Foundation’s mission including, but not limited to, special events, major giving and corporate / foundation giving. The Director directly partners with leadership volunteers and committees to influence growth and drive success and is a partner with the Executive Director and other chapter staff, to secure revenue for the Foundation. The Director will implement best practices and cultivate partnerships and alliances that will promote growth and awareness in the community.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days / week in our Needham Heights, MA office and 3 days remote work each week.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in partnership with the National Special Events team and volunteer leadership, the Director oversees the chapter’s Special Events program with a $1.5 million fundraising goal.
  • Identify corporate sponsors and individuals to support special events and organizational initiatives.
  • Develop and present compelling proposals, cases for support, and pitches.
  • Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with corporate partners, volunteers, and donors.
  • Recruit and engage leadership committees, inclusive of C-suite representatives, to assist in implementing the fundraising strategies that lead to revenue growth.
  • Manage highly influential volunteers with strong leadership styles to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with Executive Director in the execution of individual / foundation / corporate giving initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including national and regional staff, to ensure integrated approaches to event planning and fundraising, and best practices are implemented.
  • Take a lead role in planning, directing and implementing special events.
  • Prepare and present reports on event outcomes, fundraising performance, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and manage budget (income and expense) and work plan (with timeline and deliverables) for the successful completion of fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Oversee the production of all collateral materials related to fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support all new and / or proposed fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Support all other chapter fundraising activities and engage with other fundraising staff to drive organizational growth.
  • Supervise one manager and one support staff member, providing guidance and support to ensure effective team operations.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 8 years of successful not-for-profit fundraising, preferably with a health-related organization.
  • 5 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership success in the recruitment, engagement, and cultivation of high-impact volunteers.
  • Demonstrated track record in committee development within fundraising campaigns.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, with public speaking ability that will inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to teach, mentor and coach volunteers to achieve results.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with staff, board members, volunteers and donors.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented leader with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of diplomacy, patience, and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft suite and other technology, communications and donor platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SalesForce, etc.).
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
