What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Manager position at Crook County School District?
The Transportation Manager shall be directly responsible to the Director of Operations for the overall management of the Transportation Department and the general conduct of transportation personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Evaluate, plan and schedule work of transportation personnel.
2. Maintain a preventative bus maintenance program.
3. Keep detailed records and reports as related to pupil transportation as required by state and federal guidelines.
4. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, administration and the public.
5. Prepare the annual transportation budget for personnel, vehicles, equipment, supplies and other related data in document form and submit to the Chief Financial Officer.
6. Prepare schedules and bus routes for local, state and federal requirements.
7. Participate in the selection and assignment of school bus drivers. Supervise, evaluate, counsel and discipline school bus drivers.
8. Investigate and resolve complaints from the public and school administrators concerning bus drivers, bus stops, property damage, time schedules, loading and unloading at schools.
9. Direct and participate in driver safety and student programs. Investigate and record accidents and make written reports.
10. Observe good personal hygiene, punctuality, and appropriate attire in an educational setting.
11. Achieve professional growth through an ongoing program to enhance performance.
12.Must obtain certification as a School Bus Driver Trainer and be an active trainer for newly hired bus drivers. District offers training to complete this Essential Duty as necessary.
13. Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
14. Fulfill performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: : High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have, or be able to obtain, Oregon Department of Education Supervisor Certificate. District offers support in obtaining as necessary.
Experience: Two years of progressively responsible experience in automotive transportation, preferably in an educational environment. One-year supervisory experience.
Knowledge:
a. Current concepts, methods and procedures for management and leadership in transportation.
b. Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding transportation, including state and federal regulations, and school policy.
c. Behavior management and communication techniques.
d. Computer technology and other equipment used in the work place, as required by the position.
Skills and Abilities: Possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

b. Read, understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions.
c. Accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials and money, as required by the position.
