Overview
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Transportation Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting passengers and goods while providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude in various driving situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and internal parties, via telephone and in person, providing information and direction regarding the policies and procedures of Crook County Senior Services.
- Ability to handle more than one task at a time.
- Safe driving record.
- Sends and receives messages. Perform office tasks to assist in transit operations including tracking systems, vehicle usage, and ridership. Make recommendations and propose solutions to operational issues.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Manage files and documents. Confidentiality is mandatory. Keep division forms up to date and stocked.
- Process daily and monthly sheets. Accept monies, issue receipts and maintain accurate records of receipts.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Performs additional tasks as directed by the Transportation Manager/Dispatcher and or Program Executive Director.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend work when scheduled, on a regular and dependable basis.
- Obey all traffic laws. Do not start the engine until all seat belts are secured. Do not exceed the speed limit and Drive according to weather conditions.
- Transport all citizens of any age, giving priority to the elderly and the disabled, to any place within the CCSS, Inc. service area - on an “on-call” basis during the assigned times - Monday through Friday.
- Escort or assist each individual in and out of the vehicle. Ascertain that seat belts are used.
- Help transport parcels for clients. (i.e.: carry in groceries)
- Treat passengers with courtesy and respect.
- Keep a Daily Trip Sheet of all people transported, odometer readings, gas usage, monies received and submit to administrative office monthly.
- Turn in all fees for transportation with CCSS. Inc. internal control sheet.
- Perform Daily & Monthly Pre-Trip Inspection
- Assure the vehicle is fueled at the end of each working day (no less than ¾ full) and ready for the next day’s activities.
- Inform the Transportation Manager of the need for scheduled maintenance or need for new tires or repairs.
- Maintain overall cleanliness of the office, garage, and vehicles.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings/trainings to keep necessary skills up to date. (Training may require out-of-town travel.)
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Strong skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret and effectively explain department policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude, exhibit integrity, and be a positive agent for change.
- Ability to arrive on time to work assignments and maintain a history of satisfactory attendance.
Terms of Employment
- At-will Employment.
- Part-Time: Hours vary per week - Monday through Friday, not to exceed forty (40) hours per week.
- Maintain client and project confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Maintain Defensive Driving Certification and Passenger Service Safety Certification for the safety of our clients and to maintain compliance with the Federal Transportation Administration.
- Maintain project confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain Blood-Borne Pathogen Certification.
- Comply with the CCSS, Inc. Operational and Elder Abuse Policies and the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Submit to a Drug and/or Alcohol Test upon request.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training and/or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties as described; a typical qualifying background would include experience working in an office environment involving public contact.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating office equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time, carrying, pushing and or pulling, some stooping and crouching and the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
