Position Overview:
The Crooked Spoon Ice Cream Production Operator I works in our food processing plant as part of a team to assemble and stage ingredients, load to create mix bases, and to flavor, extract, package and prepare to ship final product while maintaining the plant’s high standards of manufacturing and cleanliness.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must have a valid State of Washington Food Handler’s permit.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Must be available to work a 40 hour per week schedule, including non-paid holidays as required.
- Must pass a background screening if offered a position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in and creating a collaborative team atmosphere.
- Experience in calculating figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
Primary Job Duties:
- Assists in the cleaning and organization of all plant spaces to include production floor, warehouses, mechanical room, changing room, employee lounge, restrooms, walk-in freezer, walk-in coolers, loading docks and waste/Recycling disposal area.
- Assists in the preparation of equipment, ingredients, and packaging to create base mix and to produce final packaged product.
- Assists in the production of base mix and final product to include physical actions and monitoring activities in individual and team settings.
- Each production team member is personally responsible for production safety, quality, and efficiency in accordance with food standards and product specifications, up to and including stopping production when discrepancies in standards are witnessed.
- Maintain a thorough familiarity and adherence to all parts of the Company HACCP plan.
- Maintain constant awareness of ingredients and production procedures that present possible allergen or gluten cross contamination risks.
- Strictly adheres to sanitation, food safety and personal hygiene practices in accordance with Company GMP training.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position as required for production line activities.
- Must be able to move about the plant, loading docks, walk-in freezer, walk-in coolers, warehouses, and waste/recycle disposal area to access and move ingredients, materials, and equipment.
- Must be able to operate computers, I-Pads, camera, calculators, scales, thermometers, and testing devices requiring the use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and equipment for access to and movement of items.
- Must be able to lift, hold and carry products and supplies weighing up to fifty (50) pounds across the plant.
- This position will require exposure to sub-zero ice cream freezer temperatures.
- This position will require exposure to industrial cleaners and chemicals.
- This position will require exposure to various possible food/chemical allergens.
Work Environment:
The Crooked Spoon Ice Cream plant is a smoke and drug free work environment. It operates in a primarily manufacturing setting which includes frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold, frequent use and exposure to industrial mechanical equipment and appliances, exposure to moisture in and around the plant and on the floor, contact with sharp objects, such as knives, etc., and regular use of detergents, disinfectants, and sanitizer chemicals. The plant regularly uses allergens such as milk, egg, peanut, and tree nuts. The plant produces gluten-free products and adheres to a strict GFCO compliance standard.
