Primary Purpose:
Facilitate the efficient operation of delivery services of the district. Provide safe, secure and efficient transportation services for all students and staff of the district enhancing the districts mission statement to produce literate, responsible citizens capable of learning and applying academic and social skills successfully in any life.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified or certifiable as a Texas School Bus Driver (preferred)
- Hold or obtain a CDL, class B minimum with a “P” & “S” Endorsement (preferred)
- Must pass Annual State of Texas School Bus Driver Physicals (preferred)
- Must pass ALL Federal DOT Drug and Alcohol Tests

- Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to receive and give verbal instructions clearly and effectively
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to maintain customer-oriented attitude and emotional control under stress
- Ability to exercise judgment in decision making
- Know federal, state, local and school district regulations, procedures and laws as relating to operating a passenger vehicle
- Ability to control large groups of children
- Must have empathy for children
- Ability to read, understand and use a map

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform bus driving duties when required

Operate school vehicles safely.

Pick up and deliver District mail & packages.

Pick up and deliver supplies/parts for the maintenance/transportation departments.

Maintain an efficient and effective delivery schedule.

Maintain good public relations with all District personnel and U S Postal employees.

Assist in the other delivery operations as assigned by the Transportation Director or
Superintendent. -
Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance if necessary.

Maintain clean and sanitary environment inside and outside the District vehicle.

Maintain valid class B CDL with a P & S endorsement and safe driving record with an accumulation of less than 10 points at all times.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Maintain emotional control under high stress.
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours (50%).
- Requires performing tasks standing (25%), walking (50%), bending (15%), kneeling (15%), and sitting (75%).
- Work positions include climbing (<1%), kneeling (15%), squatting (10%) and extended reaching above head and in front of body (10%).
- Requires working inside and outside in all temperatures & climatic conditions (10%).
- Requires climbing school bus steps (10%).
