Job Description – Driver Manager/Dispatcher

The Driver Manager will dispatch drivers for conveyance of freight as scheduled. Duties include using telephone or computer to transmit assignments and compiling statistics and reports on work progress.
Job Duties
· Oversee all activities and communications for specifically assigned drivers including daily e-logs, hours of service, time off, training opportunities and corrective action.
· Dispatch Drivers to appropriate locations working closely with planning department and according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using telephone and transportation planning software
· Provide driver with all of the tools they will need to successfully deliver the load in a timely and compliant manner
· Ability to foresee and plan past appointed delivery time
· Confer with customers, carrier, brokers or supervising personnel to address questions, concerns or issues as they arise.
· Review load tenders to ensure customer specific requirements are communicated to and understood by the Driver
· Monitor driver for efficient delivery, best use of time, HOS and DOT compliance.
· Notify customer and planner immediately in the event a load falls behind the original delivery time.
· Arrange for necessary repairs to restore service and schedules.
· Issue EFS checks to Drivers in accordance with company policy
· Communicate with Managers, Supervisors, Safety and HR about issues surrounding Driver compliance
· Communicate and problem solve with Drivers on issues regarding load assignments and escalate unresolved problems to immediate supervisor for assistance.
· Update Dispatch software and customer websites with all charges, times, trailer #’s, notes, etc. as relative to the load.
· Work with Payroll to ensure Driver Paperwork in turned in at weeks end.
· Complete Per Diem sheet on a daily basis for weekly distribution to the Payroll Department.
