Lead Dental Assistant

Job Summary:

The Lead Dental Assistant will provide oversight, leadership, and mentorship to the dental assisting team, ensuring efficient and effective clinical operations. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities, including direct patient care, staff supervision, and coordination with the dental team to deliver high-quality dental services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Duties:

• Prepare patients for treatments and procedures, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns.

• Assist dentists during various procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and taking radiographs.

• Perform sterilization and disinfection of instruments and operatory areas in compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols.

• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) following state regulations.

• Manage dental records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information and treatment plans.
• Responsible for ordering and making sure items are in stock

Leadership and Supervisory Duties:

• Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to dental assistants, fostering professional development and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.

• Coordinate daily operations and workflow of the dental assistant team to maintain a smooth and efficient patient flow.

• Oversee inventory management, including ordering and maintaining dental supplies and equipment.

• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and infection control standards within the clinical setting.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant

• Certification in Dental Radiography as required by the Florida Board of Dentistry.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Know how to navigate Dental software or has experience using Dentrix
