Position Summary
Responsible for the overall direction and supervisor of the Dietary Department, personnel, and food production to ensure the nutritional well-being of all residents
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient staff
Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems
Develops and implements operational methods and techniques to provide maximum efficiency within budget allowances for food, staffing, and supplies
Establishes departmental procedures in accordance with state regulations and administrative policies and develops standards for organization and supervision of dietary service
Monitors all costs associated with the Dietary Department and maintains accurate records of invoicing in order to report month-end costs, statistics, and monitor year-to-date expenses. Responsible for maintaining the departmental budget
Determines quality and quantity of food required to meet menu specifications, provides standardized recipes, orders items needed and controls food production
Actively participates in facility QA meetings, nutrition, weight loss, and skin meetings
Performs other related duties as required or requested
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
College Degree in food, nutrition, dietetics, or food service management or the equivalent in related work experience
Graduate of a dietetic technician training program approved by the American Dietetic Association or a graduate of a state-approved course of instruction in Food Service Management required
2 years supervisory experience in the dietetic service of a health care institution
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English

Work Environment – Office
This job operates in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to dust, chemicals or noise. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
