In our Health Care Center, more commonly referred to as Mission Point, you will find our outstanding nursing team assisting residents in three distinct neighborhoods – specializing in long-term care, memory care and short-term rehab. Job Description
As the Director of Nursing, your scope of responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
- Supporting and and interpreting organizational goals and long range plans to the clinical leadership team.
- Promoting and supporting the organizational goals and objectives and ensures that the information is shared in a positive and effective manner with the entire nursing department.
- Establishing and evaluating progress toward annual department goals.
- Educating, directing and evaluating Nursing Leaders; ensuring adequate, efficient staffing patterns based on quantified measurements.
- Evaluating the outcome of nursing process to ensure quality resident care, positive staff relations, and efficiency of service.
- Analyzing performance reviews and disciplinary action recommended by the clinical leadership team.
- Interacting, as appropriate, with Nursing Leaders on all shifts to review resident conditions.
- Performing periodic evaluations of resident care plans and the interdisciplinary care planning process.
- Conducting nursing rounds on all units and shifts to monitor neighborhood performance.
- Evaluating the status of critically ill residents, new admissions, and transferred residents.
- Ensuring that residents’ rights are protected per the Resident’s Bill of Rights.
- Identifying appropriate, efficient methods of collecting and implementing clinical data. Performing periodic evaluation of documentation methods.
- Overseeing and collaborating with RNAC and Registered Nurse Coordinators to facilitate maximum attainable case mix index and reimbursement within compliance. Conferring with Nurse Leaders to ensure compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
- Attending and actively participating in Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance, Leadership Team and others as assigned.
- Developing a needs analysis and coordinates Nursing Department’s continuing education program.
- Assisting the Health Care Administrator to prepare the annual Nursing Department budget.
- Filling in for the Health Care Administrator during times of absence.
- Fostering teamwork and team member engagement among all team members.
Education and Experience
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Bachelors degree in nursing or minimum of three to five years of supervisory management experience in a long term health care organization is required.
- Prior experience as a Director of Nursing is necessary.
- Must demonstrate CPR competencies.
- Evidence of continuing education in line with community, state and federal regulations.
- Must possess quality mindedness, critical thinking, initiative in leadership responsibilities, interpersonal sensitivity and communication skills.
