Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Processing Supervisor to lead our plant production team in Columbia, MO. This role is essential in overseeing the production of milk with various standard butterfat contents, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with company, state, and federal regulations. The Processing Supervisor will manage a team and work closely with Quality and Maintenance personnel to drive efficiency and maintain high standards of production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide ownership over processing, production, warehouse, and receiving teams.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to food safety (HACCP & SQF) programs, reporting deviations as necessary.
- Supervise the pasteurization process via automated equipment and ensure butterfat and solids content compliance throughout production.
- Collaborate with lab personnel to validate sample test results, and take corrective actions if specifications are not met.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, fostering a positive and innovative work environment.
- Train staff in safety, food quality, HACCP, and job-specific functions.
- Strive for fast, continuous, systematic improvements in plant operations.
- Maintain a safe and compliant working environment and lead by example in promoting a culture of safety.
- Support the development and compliance of the SQF program.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Engineering, or Business preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as a supervisor or frontline leader in a production environment.
- Experience with UHT or UP dairy products preferred; HTST experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for food processing; dairy industry experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Organic Standards and World Class Manufacturing, TPM, and/or Lean philosophies.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in fostering a positive work culture and driving team performance.
- Ability to work in a cool, wet environment on the plant floor throughout the shift.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work safely around production machines, warehouse equipment, forklifts, and large trucks/tankers.
