Position 5 Title: Community Development Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and supervision of community education and awareness programs. Provides crisis services to include crisis intervention, medical accompaniment, advocacy, information and referral and other emergency services as needed. This position also recruits, trains, and coordinates the CTFS volunteer program.
Uses independent judgment and personal discretion to manage volunteers and volunteer policies and procedures that reflect the overall values of the agency. Also, provides crisis intervention and other direct services to qualifying clients as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Assist Executive Director in program development and expansion of services including relationship with all public and private entities.
B. Assist Executive Director in maintaining contact with national, state and local Family Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse organizations.
C. Develop and maintain computer programs.
D. Participate in continuing education programs to facilitate the expansion of knowledge with regards to volunteer management and victim issues.
E. Participate in on-call staff rotation and provide crisis services as needed.
F. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
2. PREVENTION
A. Assist with agency education and outreach for family violence and sexual assault awareness and prevention program.
B. Develop programs that are multi-faceted, evidence based, theory based, includes public health change principles, and addresses multiple levels of influence within an ecological model.
C. Develop and facilitate educational seminars and community mobilization that focus on reducing the risk of an individual in becoming a victim of abuse.
D. Introduce and assist with engaging other community partners in CTFS’ efforts to reduce the risk of various types of abuse.
E. Represent the Administration in relationships with public agencies such as
Public Works, Schools and others as directed.
3. VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
A. Volunteer Administration
i. Develop, administer, and review policies and procedures, which guide the volunteer programs and services, and reflect the overall values of the agency.
ii. Develop a budget for the volunteer program activities.
iii. Administer and monitor expenditures for the volunteer program against the approved budget.
iv. Identify volunteer assignments that provide meaningful work for volunteers and write the volunteer position descriptions in consultation with staff as appropriate.
v. Evaluate the risks associated with each volunteer position and take appropriate action to control the risks associated with the program or service.
vi. Prepare an annual report on the contribution of the volunteer program to the agency.
B. Volunteer Management
i. Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of CTFS, its clients, its services and the role and responsibilities of volunteers.
ii. Ensure that volunteers are given appropriate training to be successful in their positions and that the training is in compliance with grant requirements.
iii. Ensure volunteers receive the appropriate level of supervision and guidance when providing direct services and other activities.
iv. Develop and administer forms and records to document the volunteer activities.
v. Develop and maintain a system to coordinate volunteer schedules.
4. OUTREACH & PREVENTION EDUCATION
A. Develop and facilitate victim services, community and structured education/presentations regarding agency services, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other victim issues.
B. Facilitate Community Awareness Campaigns.
C. Participate in Stop the Silence committee meetings and other crime victim’s rights and awareness campaigns.
D. Participate in local community fairs and events, representing and disseminating information about CTFS services.
E. Represent the Administration in relationships with public agencies such as Law
Enforcement, Public Works, Courts, Schools, and others as directed.
5. SUPERVISION:
Works directly under the supervision of the Executive Director of Cross Timbers Family Services.

7. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience in victim services preferred.
B. Skills
Excellent computer skills (to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and written and communication skills, with strong organizational skills and the ability to deal well with the public.

8. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Community Development Coordinator’s job functions will be performed in an office environment as well as in the field.
