POSITION TITLE: Elementary Visual Arts Teacher

 

FLSA: Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet AR licensure requirements; Visual Art Certification

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 Day employment with benefits as specified in employee contract.

 

BEGINNING: For the 2025-2026 school year

                        

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

 
The prospective teacher must possesses a strong foundation in visual arts skills and concepts in order to assist students, grade artwork, encourage creativity, and teach techniques in a variety of mediums.

 

  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
  • Plan and implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives and establish high expectations for all learners.
  • Supervise students and observe their behavior and learning, and provide feedback regularly to students, parents, and administration.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Effectively collaborate with department and/or grade level teachers and instructional coaches.
  • Utilizes curriculum and pacing guides, adopted course of study and other materials in developing lesson plans and teaching outlines.
  • Maintain the orderly arrangement of materials and equipment within the classroom.
  • Maintain a safe working condition and safely operate electronic and other equipment needed to carry out job functions and responsibilities. 
  • Responsible for supervising the proper usage of teaching supplies, classroom 
    equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Strong communication with parents.

  • Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by arriving on time and remaining until the designated time to leave for all assignments.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by following district policy and being dressed in a professional and appropriate manner.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by adhering to all state and district assessment guidelines, policy, and laws.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by conducting social media accounts according to district policy.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by maintaining accurate, complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.  This includes timely reporting of grades, attendance, and disciplinary records.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by maintaining emotional control under stress.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by abiding by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by attending meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by notifying immediately appropriate personnel any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions.  This will always include building level administration and in abuse or neglect cases Department of Human Services.
  • Display ethical and professional behavior by taking reasonable caution to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
