Job Description:
Crossflow Technologies, Inc. is seeking a General Interdisciplinary Engineer - Configuration Management (CM) to join a team responsible for establishing and implementing organizational CM policies, procedures, and technology in support of the Air Force Human Resources Systems Division. The ideal candidate must possess an in-depth knowledge of CM regulatory and policy requirements established by the Department of Defense (DoD), Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM). This individual will support a wide range of CM activities to include developing CM policies and procedures, performing configuration audits, implementing CM protocols in the organizations DevSecOps pipelines, managing configuration control boards, managing configuration items, etc. This position supports the AFLCMC/GB Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate (BES)/GBH Human Resources Systems Division.
Responsibilities:
This position requires a highly motivated individual who possess an in-depth knowledge and skill in applying engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods in the field of CM sufficient to:
· Extend or modify theories, concepts, and assumptions;
· Resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues;
· Significantly alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques;
· Provide expert advice to professional colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations;
· Provide significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods;
· Execute significant projects representing an important segment of the agency's operating programs;
· Exercise judgment and ingenuity in evaluating the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, or applications;
· Provide expertise in investigating, predicting, and anticipating issues and conditions extending beyond a single specialty area, and affecting known standards, approaches, precedents, or concepts;
· Provide expertise in developing or collaborating in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or theories changing existing knowledge and extending an understanding of phenomena;
· Provide expertise in assessing and carrying out strategies and actions to affirm the integrity, economy, quality, and effectiveness of engineering, or scientific programs; or,
· Advocate recommendations, strategies, and actions to reconcile or resolve novel, conflicting, or controversial issues or policies.
Required Qualifications:
· Education
o Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 years of which must be in the DoD.
o OR Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD.
o OR 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, 8 of which must be in the DoD.
· Specific Work Experience
o Extensive knowledge and proficiency with CM within the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
o Expert knowledge and understanding of Federal and DoD CM regulations and policies
o IT CM experience within the Department of Defense environment; Formal training and knowledge of CM directives, standards, principles (Plan, Identify, Control, Audit/Verify, Status Accounting), and techniques;
o Certification in SW CM desired;
o Experience performing HW and SW configuration audits;
o Experience performing the technical administrative activities necessary to manage CM tools, e.g., Git, Gitlab, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, AWS Config, Azure DevOps Server, Insight, and other tools for inventory control, version control, data duplication, media labeling;
o Experience producing release notes and CM reports;
o In-depth understanding of the configuration change control process, the role of the Configuration/Change Control Board, and change control documentation;
o Experience performing baseline administrative activities for multiple environments;
o Performing written and oral communications;
o Experience developing briefings for management;
o Understanding of all phases of the software development life cycle;
o Ability to enter and manage system configuration items in a database;
o Ability to provide critical analysis in the realm of problem identification and analysis, interpretation and understanding of links between ideas, research, identification of inconsistencies and errors, relevance confirmation, explanation and presentation, creative and open mindedness, evaluation and problem-solving;
o Extensive technical writing experience to provide accurate, concise, and clear document designs, collaboration, presentation, and research skills needed to design productive workplace documents and presentations for a variety of purposes and audiences; and/or,
o Assist in developing and administering CM plans, maintaining design traceability and integrity, convening and managing change control boards, and preparing for and attending major events such as, but not limited to, TIMs, PDRs, CDRs, PCAs, FCAs, and CCBs.
· Certifications
o The General Interdisciplinary Engineer - Configuration Management is required to hold and maintain an IAT/IAM level II certification (Minimum of Security ; equivalent or higher certification).
· Security Clearance
o Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
· U.S. Citizenship required.
