Job Summary
Our company is looking for an experienced EWP Designer to join our growing team. The designer would be responsible for approving and completing the structural EWP of floor & roof systems for residential and commercial construction including loose lumber Takeoffs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Under General supervision, the EWP Designer provides technical support to sales and customer service functions related to engineered wood products using knowledge of customer requirements to develop layouts and estimating/takeoff services.
- Develop and detail layouts and quote bids of EWP including I-joists, LVL, and columns as needed using I-struct software
- Able to perform structural load calculations using I-struct software preferred
- Design floor and stick frame roof systems and the ability to specify out beams and hangers as needed.
- Produce drawings, including plan views, cross-sections, details, and figures.
- Interpret and understand project drawings (including civil, structural, and architectural)
- Read and analyze architectural plans to design accurate, cost effective and efficient designs of wood framed structures for residential and commercial projects.
- Works with sales and customer service teams to manage time and effectively meet deadlines for designs, estimates, and orders.
- Communicate with customers to identify and resolve construction issues as they arise during the building process.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience with computer-aided design (CAD)
- Preferred associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or tech related discipline or equivalent job experience (minimum 2 years)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints
- Demonstrate knowledge of EWP engineering and layout software
- Drafting Skills with AutoCAD preferred
- Demonstrate proficiency use of Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word & Excel)
- Ability to multi-task and have multiple projects going simultaneously
- A strong sense of urgency for goal achievement
Pay will be based on experience.
