CrossOver Healthcare Ministry provides compassionate, high quality healthcare to the uninsured and medically underserved in our local community through the operation of two healthcare clinics; one in the City of Richmond and one in Henrico County. CrossOver is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers comprehensive healthcare services to its patients, including primary care, specialty care, dental, vision, behavioral health, HIV/AIDS care, OB/GYN, medications and medications management, and social work case management.
Position Summary: The Bilingual hygiene assistant at CrossOver Dental Clinic supports dental hygienists by preparing patients for dental procedures, providing oral health education, translation and maintaining the clinical environment. The hygiene assistant will participate in various hands on procedures; helping to ensure the hygiene patient has a welcoming and positive experience under the direction of the hygiene clinicians and Dental Director.

Position-Title: Bilingual Dental Hygiene Assistant
Supervisor: Senior Dental Program Manager
Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, non-exempt
Salary: $ 20-$21 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; some evenings and weekends may be required on occasion
Location: Henrico Clinic, 8600 Quioccasin Rd. Henrico VA 23229

Key Responsibilities
Patient preparation: Seat patients, polish teeth, take X-rays, blood pressure and verify medical history prior to hygiene scaling with clinician
Education: Teach patients about oral health and post-operative care, provide take home kits and written educational information
Treatment room preparation: Set up and break down treatment rooms, stock, sterilize and maintain equipment and instruments, make trays
Charting: Record treatment information, doctor's observations, perio charting and document recommended treatments, send information via electronic health record
Administrative duties: Assist front desk staff, schedule and confirm appointments, maintain inventory, check patient in and out
Communication: Work with other dental staff to ensure patients receive high-quality care, *aid/assist other dental staff or volunteer dentists when necessary
Maintain OSHA and HIPPA standards-Wear recommended PPE
Required Skills
· Bilingual-Fluent in Spanish
· Dental terminology knowledge
· Interpersonal skills- help patients feel comfortable and ease anxiety,
· Good conversational skills when engaging, triaging and conversing with patients
· Organizational skills- strategic and mindful planning skills, attention to detail, multi-task, working multiple rooms
· Computer skills and software knowledge-navigate electronic health records. Proficiency in Microsoft and Excel
· Professional appearance and manner
· Ability to lift 15-20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
· Coronal Polishing Certificate
· Certified Dental Assistant Certification
· Hepatitis B Vaccine series (strongly recommended, but not required)
· BLS- current within 2 years (recommended, will be required once hired)
· Current PPD test (recommended, will be required once hired)
· Covid Vaccination (strongly recommended, but not required)

- Adaptability- in learning new systems and changing work flows
- Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-year relevant experience in the dental profession
- Valid X-ray Certification
