Job Overview
The Animal Care Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care. This position involves a variety of tasks related to animal husbandry, handling, and care within our shelter setting. Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior.
- Assist with animal restraint and handling when necessary.
- Provide daily enrichment activities to promote the physical and mental well-being of the animals.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized facility, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and properly stored.
- Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a responsible, reliable, and punctual individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must be energetic, self-sufficient, and able to work with minimal supervision after training. The ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs is required. We are seeking someone who is a true "mover and shaker" — someone who can stay proactive and motivated while performing a variety of tasks.
As a team player, strong communication skills are essential, particularly in interacting with co-workers and pet owners/clients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion for working with animals and be comfortable in an environment that requires a high level of care and attention to detail.

Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Animal restraint techniques for safe handling of various species.

MUST BE RELIABLE & AVAILABLE TO WORK REQUIRED HOLIDAY & SOME WEEKEND SHIFTS. Operating hours 7 days a week/365 days per year. Hiring now for summer work for students back from school!
Hours: Weekdays Mondays - Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, Morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Lots of shift variability/flexibility. shared/rotated holiday shifts.
Starting Pay $15.00-16.25 DOE with potential to earn more based on performance and time in position.
