Must have personal or professional experience in the direct daily care of children as verified by professional references.
The master teacher serves as the not only primary instructor, role model, and spiritual guide for the students in the class, but also works with the director to create a complete environment that is in line with the mission of the church. We are seeking a master teacher who is enthusiastic about Christ-centered education, passionate about working with children, and committed to helping all Littles succeed.
Requirements
Complete all orientation and Oklahoma Human Services required courses in a timely manner. Certifications must be given to Director and Operations for employee file updates.
Current CPR and first aid training.
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time; able to get up from seated position from ground level; able to safely bend and pick up children as needed; able to pick up 35 pounds without difficulty.
Special Requirements
18 years old or older
Must pass Oklahoma Human Services background check.
Must have (at least) one of the following :
High school diploma, GED, or Licensing approved equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in an out-of-school time, educational, or child care setting;
High school diploma, GED, or Licensing approved equivalent and 12 college credit hours in child development, elementary or secondary education, or a closely related subject; or
Associate degree with at least six college credit hours in child development, early childhood, elementary or secondary education, or a closely related subject.
Have a current Oklahoma Professional development Ladder (OPDL) certificate, per OAC 340 Appendix FF - Oklahoma Professional Development Ladder of Level 4 or higher.
Available to work 40 hours per week for full time consideration.
Responsibilities
Plan, or assist planning, and participate in daily lesson plans emphasizing appropriate education level as well as Christ-centered curriculum.
Works directly with director to assess behaviors of children as well as to create behavior guidance plans for any children within the guidelines of the Oklahoma Human Services Licensing Requirements for Child Care Programs 340 : 110-3-288.
Label each child’s belongings : cubby, drink cups, diaper holder on the door, any medication, diaper cream, sun screen, Tylenol, etc.
Opening duties : greet parent and child; make sure parent checks child in on Brightwheel; ask questions regarding last feeding, how infants night was, any additional instructions for the day. Log in Brightwheel.
Keep room as organized as possible (its easier in case someone needs to take over your room). Log all diaper changes or potty breaks, meals and amount eaten, beginning and ending of nap time, as well as pictures of activities in Brightwheel. Keep all individual child’s belongings in their cubby. Keep diapers restocked throughout the day, notify parents in Brightwheel if child needs any additional diapers, wipes, diaper cream, meds, etc.
Photos : only use the Brightwheel app to take a photo; please make sure that that the photo is only of that particular infant. This keeps any mistakes from being made of sharing a photo of someone else’s child.
Incidents, behaviors, kudos, observations : all of these need to be logged on Brightwheel. Only mention the particular child’s name and not another child involved.
Closing duties : make sure room is clean and organized for the next day; diapers restocked, dishes clean, trash and diaper genie empty and to the dumpster. If you finish up early and are able to help co-workers as that would be much appreciated by everyone.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Support other teaching personnel in meeting teacher and assistant teacher responsibilities;
Responsible for :
Direct care of children;
Planning and implementing the lesson plans;
Classroom arrangement;
Planning and implementing parent communication and family engagement; and
Providing input on program development and evaluation; and
Are present at the facility during the hours of operation at least 50 percent of operating hours or 30 hours per week, whichever is less.
Position specific professional development. Master teachers obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification requirements, per OAC 340 : 110-3-284(d). Master teachers obtain the certification within three months.
