PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
A Facilities Maintenance Apprentice at Crossroads Baptist Church provides support to its facilities team. He/She supports the Director of Facilities & Food Services and other church ministry leaders by setting up for ministry events, doing light repairs, and cleaning across the Crossroads campus. He/She works to ensure that the missions, programs, and events of the church are supported with excellence. He/She helps foster a professional work environment and strengthens overall church ministries.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborate with church and school staff to accomplish the goal of a positive physical ministry environment for daily, weekly, and special events.
2. Maintain awareness of event calendar to prepare spaces and support resources for each ministry.
3. Follow the instructions for set-up and tear-down of each day’s events.
4. Proactively completes shift checklist and identifies other needed support activities with supervisor.
5. Works with staff and volunteers to support church ministries.
6. Attends periodic team meetings, as needed (may require evening or weekend hours).
7. Tracks and records work time using time-tracking app or sign-in/sign-out sheet every shift.
8. Maintains organization of assigned work & storage areas.
9. Adhere to all personnel/organizational policies & exhibits a spirit of cooperation with other ministry personnel.
10. Perform other ministry tasks as directed by Crossroads’ leadership.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Facilities Maintenance Apprentice reports to the Director of Facilities & Food Services and serves under his direction, being accountable first to him, then to the Executive Pastor, then to the Senior Pastor, then to the Personnel Oversight Team, and finally to the congregation.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS/CHARACTERISTICS
1. An appreciation for the mission of Crossroads Baptist Church.
2. A strong desire to care for others and meet their needs.
3. Must be fully aligned with the values and mission of Crossroads and represent it well.
4. Some experience in cleaning, facilities management, maintenance and repair, or customer service preferred.
5. Ability to be part of a team, but also be trusted to operate independently to accomplish assigned tasks.
6. Ability to work well with all levels of staff, volunteers, church members, & vendors, etc.
7. Exceptional character & attitude: including patience, reliability, & attention to detail.
8. Exercise good judgment & discretion; maintain confidentiality.
9. Ability to adapt quickly to changing demands & deadlines; demonstrate flexibility in the face of change or uncertainty.
10. Excellent verbal & phone communication.
11. Some skills with computer or phone software; ability to text and receive phone calls.
12. Prefer a high school graduate or equivalent. If a high school student, making good progress toward his/her diploma.
13. Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds, reach up and bend down, navigate up and down ladders, and be on his/her feet most of the assigned shift.

TIME REQUIREMENT
Generally, a M-F day shift, 7am - 4pm with an hour-long break for lunch (40 hours per week as scheduled by your supervisor). Some evening and weekend work may be needed in the role.
Position requires a pre-employment criminal background check, child safety training, and drug screening. Crossroads Baptist Church is a drug-free, alcohol-free, tobacco-free, and vape-free campus and workplace.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The budgeted salary for this position is approximately $31,200 (paid at $15 per hour). The position is eligible for overtime, but overtime is not expected of the position.
At the frontline, full-time employee level, this position has the following benefits for the 2024-2025 fiscal year:
o 403(b) retirement contributions (church contributes 5% of base salary)
o 160 hours of Paid Time Off (a combination of sick/vacation days) annually
o 16 paid holidays off
