Purpose of Job Position
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organizing, develop and assist the Dietary Manager with the overall operation of the Food Services Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards/guidelines and regulations governing our facility.
Assure that the Food Services Department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Food Services Department, its programs and activities.
Assist in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures.
Assist with training new staff.
Will be responsibility for obtaining/maintaining/filing material safety datasheets (MDSs) for hazardous chemicals used or stored in the Food Services Department. Ensure staff is aware of and knowledgeable of MDSs.
Responsible for ordering all needed supplies/food/equipment. Must maintain a safe working environment in accordance with State/Federal regulations.
Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies.
Education:
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma. Must have, as a minimum five (3) years experience in a supervisory role in a Long Term Care Facility Food Service Department, or other related medical facility.
Specific Requirements:
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies, and the general public.
Must have knowledgeable of food services practices and procedures as well as the regulations and guidelines governing food service functions in a Long Term Care Facility.
Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise department staff.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into Food and Nutrition Department.
