BRIEF DESCRIPTION The incumbent is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Virginia, and has well-defined experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, and substance use disorders. He/She is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders, familiar with the ASAM criteria for the treatment of addictive, substance-related and co-occurring disorders and has strong organizational skills. Experience in crisis intervention and motivational interviewing are strongly preferred. The incumbent is familiar with evidence-based and evidence-informed treatment methods for working with behavioral and substance abuse disorders. OSHA REGULATIONS APPLY TO THIS POSITION. This position is designated as a Level Two with regard to the HIPPA Privacy Rule. The position is exempt for FLSA.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in counseling or social work
- Licensed Professional in the state of Virginia
- Virginia driver's license
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Coordinate the development of Same Day Access Program consistent with the STEP Virginia Model.
- Provide coverage for SDA during the hours of operation.
- Make recommendations for appropriate services either in-house or in the community for evaluated individuals.
- Develops informational media to foster awareness and promote the program.
- Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with substance use disorders, serious mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.
- Coordinate continuing services when indicated in conjunction with the Access/Intake Specialist.
- Responsible for facilitating meetings with clinicians when necessary to ensure consistency among providers, opportunities for case consultation and training, and effective implementation of policy/procedural changes.
- Ensure program compliance with Crossroads’ written policies and procedures.
- Under the direction of the ES Director, responsible for developing and updating policies and procedures to ensure services remain consistent with best practices.
- Responsible for consultation and coordination with other community agencies regarding Same Day Access.
- Serves as the agency’s lead person for providing information regarding Same Day Access services.
- Maintains a caseload of at least 5 therapy clients.
- Assists with diagnostic evaluations and updates outside SDA when requested.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned consistently with job description and expectations for the position.
MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Behavioral health problems, substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders, crisis and clinical intervention, treatment management, and clinical assessment/diagnosis.
- Evidence-based/evidence-informed treatment methods for mental health and substance use disorders, and crisis intervention.
- DSM-V diagnostic categories and application to assessment and treatment planning.
- Psychotropic Medications, uses and side effects.
- Regulations relevant to service delivery, electronic health records, and third-party payers.
- The Health Insurance Portability and accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996 and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHAS) security and privacy regulations relate to the protection of confidential medical information and personal health information as required by law, professional ethics, and accreditation requirements.
