Job: Facilities & Client Support Assistant
Primary Location: US-AK-Fairbanks
Shift: 8 hours/day M-F
The Facilities & Client Support Assistant provides essential support to both facility operations and direct client services within the organization. This dual-role position ensures a clean, safe, and organized environment while also offering intermittent support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through supervision, engagement, and transportation services. The role is highly collaborative and requires flexibility, professionalism, and a service-oriented mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Be able to work effectively for and with individuals who have intellectual and behavioral differences.
• Keep accurate service delivery records.
• Experience working in a custodian role
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and appliances
• Knowledge of cleaning agents and how to use and dispose of them safely
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Physical ability to perform all required tasks
• Good focus and attention to detail
• Ability to speak, read and write in English.
• Computer/internet skills and basic use of Word and other applications. Will train.
• Use Smartphones/tablets and installed apps. Will train.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Organizational skills, prioritizing tasks, and time management skills.
• Be able to act independently and function as part of an overall team.
• Good judgment and reasoning skills are a must.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to listen.
• Approved Criminal History Check by the Alaska Background Check Unit.
Specific duties include
- Perform routine custodial duties, including cleaning common areas, restocking supplies, and maintaining facility cleanliness and order.
- Provide reception desk coverage as needed, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and assisting with administrative tasks.
- Assist with furniture/appliance setup, rearrangement, and light maintenance to support program activities, meetings, and events.
- Pick up and deliver agency supplies, equipment, and materials in a timely and organized manner.
- Transport individuals with IDD to and from scheduled appointments, ensuring safety and compliance with agency policies.
- Provide supportive supervision and engagement to individuals with IDD when care providers are in meetings or temporarily unavailable.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, staff, and external partners.
- Maintain basic documentation related to transportation, supply runs, and client interactions as required.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
- Wash, sanitize, bathroom facilities
- Pick up trash and empty receptacles
- Clean and sanitize breakroom areas
- Report issues that require extensive repairs or professional help
- Take care of cleaning equipment and keep an inventory of supplies
- Tidy and prepare spaces for the following day
- Secure facilities by locking doors and turning off lights.
- Other duties as agreed upon by the HR Director and/or the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 6 months experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
- The ability to work five shifts a week.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Description of environment: This is located in an assisted living setting
Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Applicants must also:
- Have an valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Have a reliable automobile.
- Have current Auto Insurance, including liability - minimum suggested $300,000.
- Pass an Approved Criminal History Background Check with the Alaska Background Check Unit.
- Have a current TB Test. (can be done upon hire)
- Be certified in CPR/ First Aid (WILL TRAIN).
